 Description of Garden
Designer: William Barron - in the 1930's
Based on the remains of the formal garden designed by William Barron for the 4th Earl of Harrington, it now comprises 200 acres of avenues and gardens. It has a theme of winter with many conifers including yew, sequoia and fir trees. The Old English Garden, despite its name, is a modern walled garden with herbaceous borders, herb garden and exotic trees. The four main avenues are filled with a great variety of trees from around the world.
