A small white weather-boarded house, the home of Leonard & Virginia Woolf, until Leonard's death in 1969. The rooms reflect the life and times of the literary circle in the which they moved. The garden has four contrasting sections - formal walled area, orchard, open lawn and Kitchen garden. Our orchard is the very place to sit and talk for hours in Virginia Woolf wrote in her diary. Garden highlights: spring bulbs, summer cottage garden, ponds, orchard and vegetable beds. Virginia Woolf's writing room is also in the garden, where she penned many of her great works.
Bought by the Woolfs in 1919 as a country retreat.
