Description of Garden

The garden has a strong formal structure and explores the contrast between this formal design and the wider landscape of hills and moorland. It is designed to work as a 'journey' with vivid contrasts on the way: areas of enclosure and wide views out; areas of exuberant planting and minimalist spaces. Organic methods are used throughout.

History Of Garden

A 3-acre open field on a North facing slope purchased by the owners in 1987. Terracing and most hedge planting done in 1988.
