Designed by Russell Page and Francois Goffinet the Badminton House gardens combine formality and structure with a wonderful sense of openness. The Duke and Duchess of Beaufort are passionate about plants and have made their mark on the garden's many different aspects, which include a formal south garden, a large walled garden and many other smaller treasures.
With its formal design and informal planting the main gardens wrap around the elegant Badminton House. The south garden is geometric in style, including 16 box beds filled with roses. These are flanked by large borders, the shell garden, a white bed and the peony and pool beds.
Badminton also boasts two magnificent conservatories on the east front of the house and in one of these grows the very spectacular climbing geranium Millfield Gem. The elegant Orangery overlooks the swimming pond with its central fountain and just beyond is the dog pool - which, despite the elegant planting around it, is just that.
There is also a large and productive walled garden which provides cuts flowers and plenty of produce for the house and the kitchens
