Floral displays, water features, statuary, shrubberies, rose gardens and an immaculate croquet lawn contrast with extensive woodlands incorporating charming features like the Target House, which is a superb sun-trap, and a rocky fern dell. A rare collection of 350 ferns from all over the world has recently been planted in the dell in a 'specimen' display typical of those that took pride of place in these important Victorian landscaped gardens. The rose garden, at the end of the quarry garden, is remarkable for its Rose Pergola and its 19th century rose varieties which perfume the air at the end of June and in early July. The burbling waters in the ornamental cascade complete the enchantment. The Flower Garden features over 10,000 bedding plants in an array of colours and sizes. They have been restored by David Avery and his team with the help of an HLF grant.. Local Inns: Several local pubs Accomodation: Restaurants: Village/Town/Sightseeing:
