Designer: William Kent Description of Garden: Ten acres of pleasure grounds with formal rose gardens and herbaceous borders close to the house. William Kent designed the domed temple positioned on a mound and the garden house in the formal garden. The original layout is discernible in the great avenue and in the rides through the yew trees in the pleasure grounds that have grown up since it was first designed. History: The pleasure grounds were laid out by the diarist John Evelyn, who was a noted landscape gardener and an expert on trees. His designs for Euston included the walk through the pleasure grounds which can still be enjoyed today. The whole park and river layout was designed by William Kent and is considered one of his greatest works. The project was completed by Capability Brown.
