Description of Garden:
A lovely serpentine uphill walk along a grass terrace of three quarters of a mile terminates in a lofty obelisk, but on the way the visitor passes a beautiful Ionic temple and an oval-shaped pavilion with a blue and white Rococo interior. The walk is flanked by trees and evergreen shrubs on one side and a laurel hedge with 33 bastions from which the Malvern Hills and Edge Hill can be viewed, as well as Holbech's river pool. Returning by the hexagonal Game Larder and stewponds, the visitor encounters the Sourland Pool and a cascade into the river pool, then a parterre of bush roses and an alcove seat as a satisfying finish to the tour.


History: 
The estate has been in the Holbech family for more than 300 years and the honey coloured Palladian villa was built in 1745 by William Holbech, from the former manor house. He had undertaken the Grand Tour and immersed himself in Italian art and architecture. The garden and its buildings were designed with the help of his friend, the landscape gardener Sanderson Miller, and were completed in about 1751.
