Features: 
One of the largest collections of rhododendrons and azaleas to be found anywhere. Naturalised plants and native plants encouraged. Woodland garden with burn (stream) garden by house on flat area, wheelchair access to woodland possible in parts but hill to it is not easy.

Description of Garden:
There are three sections with an informal walk between each. The Georgian House - a south facing garden much replanted in the last 4 years, with a large grass area with interesting trees all around. The Walled garden - this is mostly taken over by nursery growing, with fine trained fruit trees and ceanothus to be seen here. The Woodland Garden - on the slope above, this has meandering paths through the famous collection of rhododendrons, meconopsis, magnolias and many other shrubs and trees. These are complemented by many naturalised herbaceous and wild flowers which make it an enchanting walk.


History: 
The beautiful Georgian mansion was built shortly after the '45 Rebellion in 1748 with money provided for putting down the rebellion. Prince Charlie is believed to have hidden in woods nearby.

The garden has developed over the years since 1919 when the late Euan Cox returned from a trip to Burma. Euan and son Peter have continued to add to the collection and Peter's son, Kenneth, has now joined his father, so all three generations have contributed both plants and experience from their expeditions out East.
