Events, Courses and Workshops - see own website Caravan Site on the estate - Tel: John Smith on 01233 620908 Features: Rose Garden, Italian Garden, Delphinium collection in the Walled Garden. Designer: Sir Reginald Blomfield Description of Garden: The great boundary hedge, based on Blomfield's original design, is one of the largest in the country. Inside the long yew hedge, shaped to mirror the gables on the house, is to be found the formal garden. This features lawns, topiary, pond, terraces and the Pan Garden with views out on to the 18th century park. Other notable elements are the daffodils and large tulip tree set in a wild garden, the Italian Garden and Rose Garden. There are numerous varieties of clematis growing up the walls and fruit trees. There are also some new delphinium borders, thanks to the Delphinium Society. Restoration is continuing with the large walled kitchen garden. The walled garden contains vegetable and cut flower beds, greenhouses, fruit trees and the fabulous delphinium borders tended by the Delphinium Society. History: Godinton is a glorious Jacobean mansion, reworked in the 1890's by Sir Reginald Blomfield, who then went on to create the twelve acres of gardens.
