Designer: Description of Garden: Kailzie is a semi-formal walled garden with rose garden, herbaceous borders, old fashioned roses and extensive greenhouses. Woodland and burnside walks take the visitor among massed bulbs and then rhododendrons and azaleas. The garden has fine old trees including the oldest larch in Scotland, planted in 1725. The gardens lie in the beautiful Tweed Valley, with wonderful views across to the Leilheh Hills. Truly a garden for all seasons. History: Kailzie was first mentioned in 1926 and was then called West Kelloch which means wooded glen. The old stable block - now the tearoom and shop, also 3 houses and the art gallery - were built in 1794, but parts of the earlier building still remain. The walled garden was created by the present owner, Lady Angela Buchan-Hepburn.
