The garden is made up of a series of separate 'rooms' firstly the rose garden, enclosed by yew hedges and at the centre a large circular fish pond with a fountain, four beds of white roses with pink and mauve roses bordering the edge and scramble up supports. An abundant Paul's Himalayan Musk envelops the archway leading up to the Herbaceous Border, from which a gate opens on to a croquet lawn, a pleached lime walk goes to a moon gate. A further gate opens into the Pool Garden, this garden is enclosed on one side with a huge yew hedge and on the other a thatched wall. This is more cottage garden in style; on an upper level is a thatched pool-house. The beds have mixed planting with pleached apple and pear trees lining the path which leads onto the kitchen garden. The kitchen garden includes four plots of vegetables, a decorative orchard, an orchid house, a large greenhouse, cutting borders for flowers for use in the house and finally a rose walk (at its best in late June early July).
