The park comes up to the house, and is separated from the upper garden by a sweeping drive. The garden is clearly divided into two parts; the upper garden, the nearest one to the house, has been created out of the existing parkland, a row of sweet chestnuts and a few more trees which indicate a planting for other purposes than purely ornamental. The second garden, or the historic Folly Garden, is a very different proposition. The garden is reached by a romantic path, dropping past two small lakes to the main one. History: The house was originally an early nineteenth century building, but a fire in the latter part of the last century has resulted in the two architectural styles.
