Designer: Pam Lewis (and Peter) 1987 Description of Garden: Blending unobtrusively into the heart of Dorset's fertile Blackmore Vale, Sticky Wicket garden is both a haven for wildlife and an artists' paradise. There are several different garden areas, each with a particular colour theme and focus of seasonal and wildlife interest. New ponds ('Peter's Ponds' - Peter's last contribution in 2003) and bog garden bring a wealth of creatures to the spring garden. The herb-rich Nectar Garden provides food for bees and butterflies and the soft kaleidoscope of colours are designed to peak from mid to late summer. Grasses and autumn fruits and berries are features of the naturally informal white garden. In June the two wildflower meadows are breathtaking in their full glory. Although primarily an organically managed wildlife garden, high priority is set on aesthetic values as the owners strive to achieve a sense of beauty, harmony, peace and inspiration. History: Pam (and the late Peter) Lewis designed and created their three and a half acre garden in the years since 1987. In a garden context, wetland, woodland, hedgerow, and grassland habitat have been created, where once neglected pasture surrounded the house and offered little diversity for wildlife. All the garden features have been fashioned out of re-cycled materials. Pam Lewis has written two books published by Francis Lincoln: 'Making Wildflower Meadows' 2003 and a Garden Writer's Award winning book 2005 about the garden, 'Sticky Wicket: Gardening in Tune with Nature'. Both are available from Sticky Wicket Garden or through website.' Local Inns: Gaggle of Geese - 300 yards.
